A Silver Arowana and a Hujeta Gar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no possible way.. I have a spotted gar and a jardini Aro. My Jardini is about 22 inch and my gar is about 20 inches... Sometime they will be swiming side to side but no way they can cross breed, plus your aro is way to small to even start breeding. Silver aro mature at the min 24-36" and they can get up to 4 feet long. I don't think this will be possible at all..

probably they were just having a dispute

Or just buds

sorry to burst ure bubble but its impossible. they are totally diffrent fish gars and arrowans dont match.. its kinda like saying hmm man and a duck trying to make kids.. dude not gonna happen either you put beer in your water or you put way to much chlorine remover.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

sorry but no way in &*%$

I really agree that´s impossible!!! Two different genera... only a few animals are able to do that

Bah, I should've worded my thread a bit better.

Lol, I wasn't asking if it could happen exactly, I just saw them acting weird and was putting it out there. I know it's impossible but I had seen my Gar trying to keep up and swim side to side with the Arowana a few times.

Would be cool though if they could haha.

Its not necessarily just same/similar genuses that hybridize, it mainly only matters if they breed similarly, look slightly similar to each other, or at least have the same breeding technique. i doubt yours are breeding mainly because aros are mouth brooders(mostly) as compared to hujeta gars which are not.
hujeta gars are naturally schooling fish, so he probably sees your aro as another gar and something to school with. he will most likely outgrow it as he/she ages.
