what size and one more thing seeing to your aquarium witdth you would sooner or later would have to upgrade depending on what size you buy them

if your tank is 24" wide then it may be ok for 8 months to a year depending on growth rate of your silver. but upgrade is inevitable.
I've read that the minimum tank for an adult arowana would be a 180g and even in that it would get crowded.
A LFS right by my house has 3 in a built in 2000 gallon tank. It's really long and shallow. They seem to be at least 30 inches, if not three feet.

Silvers need the most room. 125 is good enough till he is about 16''. If you want to house a silver for life, get a tank 350 gallons+
