A tick got me...

You need to remove it with tweezers and twist anti clockwise to remove properly then dab with some antiseptic .

I get ticks on me all the time. I usually take them and put them in a ziploc bag and freeze them. Just so incase anything happens you can get the tick tested for disease. During hunting season I normally pull about 10 ticks off me a week mainly when im walking to one of my tree stands through tall grass.

That's not exactly true. It all depends on the place your in, there's a public park around me that's a natural redwood forest area and studies have shown that about 73% of the ticks in that area have Lyme. I don't go there anymore once finding that out.

Alright we'll it might be where I grew up but we have never made a big deal about ticks but I can see where your coming from. If its a area like that I would go get checked out as soon as possible

Lyme is very rare in Japan. We only have around 10 cases per year but there was a new sickness, called SFTS which caused some death cases here. I´m out in the wild alot but usually wear clothes that prevent ticks. So i was kinda scared now.

Ok well that's good news cause Lyme isn't really something to mess with. But still get yourself check out by a doctor, can't be too safe.

It's not a big deal at all. I spend a decent amount of time in tick country and I'm still alive (so far)

I found a small one on my wrist a few days ago, totally embedded. I hadnt been in tick country for three days. I guess the little bastard decided to wait around on me until he felt hungry. He met Mr tweezers, then Mr freezer, and I dropped it off at the doctor for testing. In my region, apparently 40% of deer ticks can carry lyme disease. Lyme disease will probably make you pretty unhappy, but if you catch it early (look for the bullseye rash) you can usually get rid of it with no problems.

Ticks suck, but dont let them ruin the outdoors for you. Just be careful and be aware of your surroundings.

If you enjoy the woods but you really cant deal with ticks, try wearing tick repellant dog collars around your legs when you're hiking. Read the package, sometimes they take a few hours to take effect, so plan ahead and put them on whenever the directions say.

Just try not to let them come into contact with amphibians or anything like that.
