Some questions come up.

1. Does a tv put off too much heat to be 3 inches from a tank?
2. The tank is a 75g, could a 2 hour movie mess with the tank that much?
3. Does the electricity given to the tv mess with anything on a tank?

I think that covers it, in the 1.5 months since getting back into tanks, im quickly out growing my home office. I have a 16, a 30, and a 75 in here, with a 10 in the other room and a 85 in the hallway..

IDK but i think it can disturb the fish. Somehow. Machines put out low/hi frequency waves that humans can't hear, feel or see but animals can. I think i read that in japan, catfishes are restless when an earthquake is occuring(low frequency thingies).

Honestly, I'd be more worried about spilling water and frying myself and the TV.....

The only thing you should have to worry about it how loud you have the tv. And the vibrations from the base.
It can stress out the fish.

agree. i have a tv near a 55 and the water output from my filters and air pump would easily mask frequencies coming from an outside source.

I second noise level would be a concern. Put the tank somewhere were the fish can see it farther away. I swear my ornate watches TV. He's always out when I'm watching movies.

I have 0 options for this tank unless i get rid of the 85g in the hallway and move this out there. Selling the 85g is in my mind but not a happy thought. This is the last space in the house.

:ROFL:a TV watching bichir

His favorite is When harry met Sally, he's a sucker for Romantic Comedies. But in all seriousness I don't know if he's attracted my the flashing lights from the tv (cause I don't think his vision is very good seeing as he has trouble eating out of my hand) he comes out and faces the tv when I'm watching movies. It's like we hang out :)

Get a projector! It's what I have so that I can watch my tank on the same side of the room without concern on TV blowing up; Also how can you beat 60" viewable in HD for under $1000.
