I guess with a painted tank when you take pics the background does seem to pop more... but at the same time, i've always worried about what happens if you ever wanted to change it for some reason?

Any way, as for the aquascaping, i don't think its too bad... although maybe if you tried spreading every thing out a little bit more and mixing it up a bit it could look slightly more natural and slightly interesting? just my 0.2cents...
 
Your so right, I thought the same thing and when i did the water change the other day thats what i did. Will post new pics tomorrow for you. Also getting behind it would be hard, i have seen some very natural backing, its almost 3D.

Use latex paint. It will peel right off when you want to remove it.
