well i was cleaning out today and i have 2 boas (male and female) in together. they r only a year old but was told it was fine, they wouldnt get up to anything until they were ready.
as i was cleaning out and lifted their hide, which is huge as i got it for them too last a year or 2, i lifted them both out.
one was at one end of the hide and the other was at the opposite end, but as i got them out i noticed their tails tightly locked.

now i might b making a mountain out of a molehill here, but even as i went to put them back they wouldnt let go of each other.

no chance their breeding is there?

obviously i planned on breeding but not for a few years.
if they r will anything happen? is their any risk to her? obv with ball pythons the female can get eggbound and poss die.
needless to say i havnt done any research because i wasnt planning on anything.
is he too young to preduce sperm or is she too young to produce the eggs?

like i said, porbably means nothing, but id rather check.

I think you are probably just fine. You didn't mention anything about size but I assume your male maybe coming into his own, kind of like a frisky teenager but not quite able to seal the deal. Also, your female is most likely too young or too small to successfully ovulate to produce mature ova so the chances of her producing anything large enough to potentially damage her is very slim. However, remember what your husbandry practices have been and their approximate dates because you may have inadvertantly solved the specific requirements for your pair in the future. This could really reduce missed opportunities for breeding in the future.

cheers fella. i think ur right. iv just been readin up.
he is a big boy considering hes the same age as her. shes a slow grower whereas hes a bit of a monster.
hes not far off the 5ft mark and shes just over 4ft. hes a bit chunkier though, she isnt, she always feeds (except last time but where i was a div and left the heatmat unplugged  god i was lucky) so i think she was just cold, normally she gulps down anything going.
so technically i suppose i cooled them.
but your right, nothing to worry about ...phew *wipes brow* was just scared she might come in to danger.

You answered your own question.......A Female may copulate with a Male, but won't produce anything untill she's physically ready, which she may be......She knows that better than anyone......

It would benefit everyone involved here to keep them separate at all time except for breeding.
If they did actually lock up there is a chance that you will have an accidental breeding on your hands and young female boas can have just as many complications as pythons. Snakes do not breed just for the hell of it and if the female was not ready she would not have allowed the male to breed her. Separate them immediately and keep a very close eye on your female. if you notice anything out of the usual you should probably schedule a vet visit and see if an ultrasound is needed. If she is pregnant and you wait to long to find out and see if there will be any complications it could cause the death of your boa.

She may be fine and not even able to develop follicles yet but it is always better to be on the safe side.....

i second this. depending on the genetics, some boas max out at 4 foot. i think they are big enough to breed (especially the male) but the question is whether they have reached sexual maturity.
i know someone who accidentally had his boas breed at 3.5 and 4 feet and produce babies (even if there were very few)
