Haha okay. I'll do some other research as well, I plan on doing aquaculture and nutrition is fundamental for that

Very interesting and informative, makes me realise how crap the food I'm using right now is. The cheaper fish and then grains. There is another brand I have that my brother got a while back, for marine fish with shrimp, fish fillets, krill and then only cereals. Only thing is ash content is 10%, does that mean lower quality of primary ingredients?

Sometimes, but not always. As an example, if one was to lower the carb content drastically in a formula, that would potentially push all of the other numbers up, including ash content, with some of that ash potentially coming from the fish/krill/shrimp (protein) content. Having said that, typically high ash content points towards lower feed quality.

It's not always easy reading between the lines of pet food formulas, but some things should send up a red flag for consumers. Don't believe everything that you read, clearly some manufacturers are not being entirely truthful, or are very confused.

Best to do your own homework, and come to your own conclusions.

If you want to find out if a food is good, convince the manufacturer to come here and say their product is good. We rate the food based on the number of arms they walk away with. A number derived by how many arms RD had broken off and beaten with.

I'm really not looking to turn this into some kind of Q&A, or a pissing contest with manufacturers, or members here. I posted because I think that the food mentioned by the OP is a far cry from being the quality that was being represented by the OP. My personal opinion, take it or leave it.

I brought up the lab report about Northfin due to Dan's comment about this product, and the fact that I too appear to have been duped by this manufacturer. Just for the record I have no issue with ethoxyquin being used in fish food, but I don't expect to see elevated levels such as shown in that lab report (over 300 ppm!), and I most certainly don't expect to have any ethoxyquin in a food that is advertised as being *ethoxyquin free*. Keep in mind that this is a food that I have also fed to my own fish, and a food that I have said positive things about on this forum and others, so not really happy about this outcome. In my personal opinion, the lab results that I have seen appear to be genuine. Perhaps kmuda will post a follow up on his site, or a 3rd party will investigate further?

Ingredients aside? I don't need to feed my fish a sheet sandwich, to understand what the end results will be. Based on fiber content alone, this food gets a failing grade. That's my thoughts.

No offense, but I was asking the OP. Ingredients aside as in. Maybe he used it and it instantly clouded his entire tank. Or it arrived as mush, there are several different reasons it could be terrible other then the reasons you listed.

I've already read and understood your complaints and they are entirely valid. I was curious if the OP had additional complaints.

Kind of disappointed in it. My fish like it but it's quite messy. This seems to be a better food too my feed small fish like angels and tetras and fish like that because you could just sprinkle a little in there at a time. I have bigger fish that go nuts on good so it gets all over the place.
