Yeah, I know they get really big, seen one at about 2 1/2 feet long at a lfs before, mean son of a b**** at that, I'm not really worried about the size coz my uncle has a humonous pond that I throw all my fish in when they outgrow my tanks. Next time I'll definitely let it grow out solo, coz even though they are mean when they grow up the big one I saw seemed pretty smart coz it would play with the big marbles they put in a tank (just like flowerhorns).
 
Already tried it with a similar sized alligator gar...no luck.Next time I get one I'll probably grow it out on it's own.
