abnormal behavior or not?

I've been checking my water twice a day and nothing has changed. The aro was only 4" and had stopped eating a few days ago and I think adding a large ray stressed the aro out making matters worse. I have not added prime or any other chemicals recently either.

prime would be beneficial, not detrimental. it conditions the water to remove the toxic qualities of chlorine and chloramine, into types of ammonia that can be broken down by BB. you WANT to add it to your tank, especially when doing water changes.

this could be why your aro died and your ray seems stressed, if you haven't been adding it.

You know 4" is pretty small for an aro, silver or black. I know my 14" black is still very skittish. It may have been your clown loaches stressing out the aro that caused it's death. As far as the ray, how long have you had it? It may be just the ray being itself if your water is checking out

Water is the same as it's always been, the loaches and added ray may have just stressed out the arowana I know at 4" they are very sensitive. I apologize I thought prime was a medication for some reason. Of course I use a tap water conditioner when doing water changes just did a large one, around 50% before I got away for 5 days. Gave my ray a large meal tonight and I'll have my mom just drop in some pellets in about 3 days or so.
