Hi there,

A good friend of mine was in today just checkin out my tanks and when he came to my 230g where I have a male jag, 4 female 1 male loiselle, 1 male 1 female salvini he told me that he has a friend who would probably be willing to give me 2 jag's that he is trying to get rid of. Both of them are female and he referred to one of them as a golden jag.

I have never heard of such a thing what is it? Have any of you ever seen or heard of such a thing?

He said that he would bring the 2 by for me either tonight or tomorrow so I guess I will just wait and see. I can't see this friend of mine yanking my chain as I have gotten some very nice fish from him before including some of my wild caught moba front's amongst other things.

I just wanted to drop a thread out there to see if anyone on this forum has heard of or ever owned one of these and are they simply a albino jag?

Hopefully like this one!

you sure thats not photoshopped

how can a jag not have any black?

mr friend is sort of a supplier for the fish community of sask from a guy who brings them back from central south america who is located in winnipeg

well that is a xanthic jag, and no its not photoshopped it is the most AWESOME fish ever!! but yeah i think iv heard of a gold morph of jag, im pretty sure that bad boy VRWC posted was paired to a gold morph female but not sure if there are many pics out there of them (def more common than the xanthic though)

the pic above is actually a xanthic jag..
goldens are lighters in color and actually look really nice

Aquamojo has some footage of the gold morph. Here ya go.

very nice looking fish have to look at the thread

will have to wait and see what my friend brings me!

I will most definitely post up some pics when it gets here. I do know that my having these 9 tanks here in my restaurant certainly has drawn much attention from the fish community. I often get asked to rehome big fish, just last week I was given 2 med-full grown bleekeri to put in the 300g.

I hope this fish that is suppose to be coming is a nice rare oddball that would be so cool to have a fish not common in the hobby. My buddy told me the fry from this female jag are almost white when they are 1-2 inch long.

Ive always thought (and been told) the ones with the smaller speckles and not big splotches (referred to here as gold morph) were from closer to Mexico and the darker more big splotched ones were from further south, closer to Nicaragua.
