After the massive and constant diatom outbreaks in my 220 and 125 and just finding ich in my 125 predator tank I'm about ready to quit on saltwter and just go back to all freshwater. Seems like a shame after the time and effort but I can't seem to find that light at the end of the tunnel. Done ranting now.

just take a moment to relax this happens to all of us and is a frustration but patience will help u threw with the diatom try adding some snails if its a predator tank add long spine urchins to help or give me the list of fish in the tank. Ich sucks I know but it can be treated and helped what fish have it and how bad?

For the diatoms I recomend getting a scrubber (as I do to every one with algea problems of any kind) if you build it right and maintain it properly you will never see another algea outbreak.

How long has the tank been set up? Diatoms are common in new tanks even up to 6-8 weeks. It's hair algae and cyano that reefers will usually struggle with.

hey freshies what are you doing i salt. j/k

IN ALL THIS EXCITEMENT I CAN'T REMEMBER DID I FIRE 5 OR 6 SHOTS FEEL LUCKY:D

I didn't mean to start a shoot out in the thread.lol well i lost my loinfish in the ich tank and i finally caught the darn grouper that started it all. he is in a 10g qt cause he still isnt doing well. Everyone else is in good shape.
the diatoms in the 220 are gone for the most part. i think it was due to the fact that i just started using the MH's since i recently started adding corals.
I went to a local reef club meeting for the first time and that got me back into the spirit.
Dont worry freshies, i still have 2 120g, 75g,6 55g, 35g hex and a 10g fresh.
