can RTC jump out of tank?do I have to put the lid on?

the rtc is still very small only bout 4'', and its in a 50 galls tank, I already have a 700 galls tank when it gets bigger which is soon

ya you will need it I bought my RTC about five months ago he was about 3" and he is about 17" now... in the middle of a pond build for him...

ummm. My RTC has the psycho gene. When the lid is off my pond the pond net must go on!

Nor really sure why he likes to jump but my guess is because he is trained to hand feed at the top of the water...

Hey Jay ,just feed him more so he is too fat to jump..:)

They dont usually jump unless there is some type of food dangling on top of the water, but i would still try to cover just to be safe.

No so much true. My two rtc's would shatter glass at night when they where spooked.....and that's at 10''. Then i switched to egg crates and worked fine till they hit 15''. The straight to the pond.

My RTCs are straight to the pond now. Them and the RTCxTSN are the most responsive fish i have.

the others... well they are just too passive. The Paroons sumtimes take food from my hand, but rarely.
