Where can it be purchased

home depot, lowes, walmart. just about anyplace that sells pool supplies..

i use sand blasting sand in my tanks. it real fine and cheap. a 100 pound bag was like 10 bux i think..

Pool Supply stores, should carry it. I looked at Home Depot and could not find it today.

it might be hard to find this time of the year. depending on where you live of course..

regular play sand would work to

Dont exactly have alot of pool supply stores in Alaska either....WE are frozen for 8 months out of a year roughly...

Another idea would be to have a bottom covered in large flat stones like these http://webpages.charter.net/beachdoggs/289-rt.jpg

I had this on my 90g when I had just an oscar in it and it was a little more work to clean, but it looked great and i cant imagine a fish rubbing himself raw on them.
