well first off they are illegal in your state...so they will not ship to you...and i cant see a school allowing their kids to break their state laws and wanting to pay thousands in fines. also 2 at 4" is still to young...and how are they giving you half a tank? you gonna cut it in half? im confused. and its only for a year then your gonna "hand them off" thats a big deal to just hand off fish to other people...not very responsible...and goldfish are bad for piranhas. just so you know :) lol

I thought that I explained it all pretty well. We are starting off with a smaller tank and putting 2 or 3, 4" piranhas in there. Once we get to the time when we will start to set up the 750 gallon tank, once it is set up we are going to put a divider in it. The tank is all custom and was donated to our school, so it came to be set up however you want it to be. Now talking about handing it off, I don't think your looking at it in the right way. The goal that my friend and I are trying to accomplish is interest in these fish and other fish that we have in the tank and if we can find some underclass men who do have interest then handing it off to them would be no problem if they have worked with the fish all year. Correct?

If all goes well which I am sure it will, it would be nice to be able to talk to the state of Virginia and maybe get permission to do all of this. I think that if we had a good reason and presented it to the state they would let us have them. It is something that kids are interested in at my school and it is something that we are trying to persue. Sorta like a fish club.

Thanks,

Christos

Thanks for all the information guys, and yes it is sad to hear that they are illegal but my dreams have not been crush. I will find some way to make it all work out. I do think that is kind of outrageous that they are banned in certain states.

Thanks fellas,

Christos

I think it has something to do with them being released into the wild and killing all competition.. and them possibly surviving the winter.. But thats just them lol

ummm i would give up on the piranha idea, or go to another state. im 100% positive just because your a boarding school doesnt mean the state is going to risk its wildlife.

Yeah, after doing all the research I can do and looking through everything I have just run out of ideas. I am meeting tomorrow with my friend to figure out a tank and maybe some replacements. We are really set on getting Piranhas, so if we do I will def post pictures up.

Thanks Everyone for the help,

Christos

P.S: For now I have one red bellied Pacu, haha.
