About to push tank over...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I apologize for the mix up ;) I'm so use to browsing the car forums where 99.9% of the members are male I forget this site has a large female crowd too.

Its okay Falcon no harm done. :)

( I fix my own car as well ;), being a single mom you have to do things on your own at times)

Anywho, back on topic: Im going to try and give it one more week of wter changes (since the UGF is so new) maybe just maybe...this will work.

The fish are active and swimming around normally, I keep a eye on them all the time take head count and watch how they act. I feed very little , the pleco I feed at night when dark. As far as I know he eats cause the wafer isnt there in the morning.

Im trying my best, I guess in some ways its trial and error in this hobby.

Questions:

it could, im not gonna say no it wont for shure, but it shouldnt. your doing so many water changes that your not giving time for the bb to grow, so your not gaining anything, only prolonging the process. feed less for a week, and dont change the water unless your perams start getting worse.

Im leary about not doing water changes for 1 week, Im willing to try anything at this point for the level to go down thanks. Ill also keep the other poster's advice in mind.

You may have already mentioned this already (I read through the thread and didn't see anything), but what are you using to test your water? It sounds kinda like you're getting an invalid test result. It's odd if your nitrites are staying exactly .5.

Also, you didn't mention your ammonia, did you test for it at all?

Im using test strips ( 5 in 1) and I have Ph testing kit as well so I know its close to the Ph. I also have the test strips for ammonia( it gives the same thing every time( stress). Its all I can afford right now for testing supplies until I get the money on my check.

Test strips aren't very accurate, take a water sample to a reputable LFS.
Note: Petco and Petsmarts are not reputable stores...for testing water
What are the Nitrites coming out of the tap?

Since you have a HOB and a UG filter add some "seachem matrix" to your gravel bed for a bio boost... good luck let's see pics of your tank:popcorn:

who needs a profile? i knew it was a female as soon as she mentioned guppies and platys without saying the words ?my daughter? or ?feeder fish?
