Do Carp jump out of the water like Koi do?

Should I get a net or something over the pond? Can they die from the 4' fall?

haha thanks for the quick/understandable response. will do so

yeh there have been a billion cases where carps have jumped into open filters...ouch..hmmmits kinda sad that we have to cover the ponds cause it spoils the ambience. but i guess wen they grow old and fat they dont or cant jump anymore. the most dangerous period is wen they r juves...

Oh, I'm thinkng of keeping the BIG carp I fish for.. usually around 3' but would they jump?
What size is a juvenile..when do they turn into adults?

I never had a problem with my Koi jumping out of my old pond...raccoons on the other hand...:irked:

haha, we get everykind of wildlife in our backyard but my neighbor has a pond that had baby koi in it that were gone in a few weeks..
why was that? It's pretty deep. Do they like wait until the fish come close to them? their nocturnal right..so can they see really well at night?

When they get bigger they still jump. When im fishing at Lake Winnipeg as the day is winding down big carp and catfish are constantly jumping out of the water. I dont think they'd be jumpin out like mad though, just keep an eye out and a 3-4 foot fall shouldnt kill them.

Catfish jump too??!!
