Has anyone ever used one of those above ground swimming pool as a pond or to hold fish? I was thinking of getting one to put fish in it. Anybody know if its a good idea or not? I found a pool that is 10feet by 3 feet high for $88 and was wondering if I should get it.

Here is a picture of what it looks like.

I'd get the one with the frame, and put a different filter on it.

I used an inflatable one for a few hours to hold fish while I switched tanks out. It seemed to work ok

We couldn't get the inflatable one to hold air for more than a day at a time. So we bought a metal frame one, my kids have 8 monster carp (6 - 12 Lbs) in it now. They have fun swimming with the fish.

I posted the same question and picture about 3 months ago and the only neg. feedback I got was the amount of humidity it will create indoors. That was what i intended its use for"inside use".

i did that back in Philippines before. our pond cracked because of the earth quake so we had to take out the fishes to do some repair on the pond. they were in the above ground pond for about 2 months max. they did pretty good too as long as you have a good filter but not visually appealing.

not sure if those are as uvresistant as the normal liners either. if there's someshade, then cool. you can cover the sides with some decoration

It will work fine, the only ceveats are fish with very sharp spines (they can put tiny leaks that cause mold/mildew on the outside and underneath which rots the plastic and gives off bad odors), large sucker fish (may try to eat thru liner cause they're bored or think they've found food) and large birds trying to land on the sides and puncturing it. Get a net cover (netting for fruit trees is cheap). and set it up for 2 days to let the material off gas, Then rinse it out good and THEN fill it with water. work up a good bio filter box and plumb it in after the filter. Have your return splash back into the 'pond' to help aerate it. Water lettuce - etc. floating on top and some other plants inside and it should cycle in no time at all (kinda) and your good to go... oh yea and some fish if you feel it's necessary :grinyes:

salt water pool??

salt water pool??

Why not? Put in a sand bottom and round off the bottm of your live rock so it doesn't poke thru.

Watch the tails on your rays!

Hey! Maybe you could raise kelp

I myself am trying to grow blue-green algae for health reasons...

Oh yea, you have to change to a marine filter, this filter would probably seize up in a day with saltwater. :grinyes:
