Above ground pool?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a 5000 gallon above ground pool with a deck built half around it. I added 2 skippy style bio-filters (150 gal stock tanks) and some koi. It doesn't look the best but the koi are the center piece anyway. I'll be adding a pond out front in the next couple of months and I may put the fish out there and turn the pool back into a swimming pool. Haven't decided yet.

The fish are doing great. I started with koi in the 10 - 12" range and a few in the 4 - 6" range. I've found that the larger fish do much better as the smaller fish seem to get lost and never find the food.

Why not? Put in a sand bottom and round off the bottm of your live rock so it doesn't poke thru.

Watch the tails on your rays!

Hey! Maybe you could raise kelp

I myself am trying to grow blue-green algae for health reasons...

Oh yea, you have to change to a marine filter, this filter would probably seize up in a day with saltwater. :grinyes:
That would be awsome. Everytime you want to go snorculing in the ocean you could gust go to your back yard.
