i went to a pond placea few miles from me yesterday and they had a pond that was like 12' x 18' x 6-8' deep. looked like a pool with about 7, 3' koi  and one pushing 4' and one about 13"

so its inspired me for mynew project!

im not sure if its going to be inside oroutside (depends where i move to).

ill be moving next year (jan.) when i turn 18!...finally!

i want to do a pond that is the same size bigger but instaed of being ground level make it so 4-5ft is below ground and 3-4ft is above... ive looked and cant find pics of one set-up this way... or directions on how to do it.

i redo houses and build alot of stuff with concrete so puring and forming wont be a problem, its the chemicals and coating thats a problem...and also should i have more above ground than below ormore below than above...( 4ft below 3ft above or 3ft below and 4ft above?) or would it jsut be preference?

making it swimmable.... i would like to be able to swimm in it...with the fish:naughty: . besides rinsing off in the shower before swimming, what extra filter/chemicals should be added to prevent oils and such from harming the fish? or would there be enough water it really wouldnt matter?

would it be OK to have 3 or 4 koi, a dozenor so bluegills and a catfish or two living together? i know the catfish might eat the BG but would the BG mess with the koi (tear up their fins?)... i dont want to put 'em in and then have to go fishin for 'em later :nilly:

no one thinks this is a good idea or has advise?

usually you guys are busting at the seems with info on crazy stuff like this,

you mean like buy a swimming pool and sink it a few feet?

no, like make a swimming pool about 4ft deep then raise the side like 3ft do its about 7-8ft deep.
all made out of concrete like a regular swimming pool.

or maybe make like 1/3 of it ground level then dropoff 3-4ft and make a wall around it thats 3-4ft tall so it'll be 3-4ft deep on one side then it drops off to 7-8ft deep.

OH! inground pool!
excuse me up here all pools are like aluminum above ground kinds. winters don't really permit dug-ins.
yeah it should work just make sure to reinforce the wall while the concrete sets.

i take it the pool already built?
um, yes. i would make sure the blocks are relly well connected to the pool so there are no leaks.
i thoug you were making the whole thing all at once, but if you're building on top of somehting already made then the rebar isn't nessicary but still a good idea.
try to find someone who makes concrete pools. i'mpretty sure you have to line them with something or lye or something will leach out an kill your fish.

i will be starting from scratch...i havnt even moved yet...lol..but if theres a pool where i move, then i'll most likely add on or just turnthe already made pool into a pond. if there isnt one, then id like to build it so its half inground half out.

sound killer. do you want to put a viewing window in or just look down into it?

not sure yet, a viewing window always sounds awesome, but again ill have to see where i move to, if its indoors or out doors, what the weather is like (we get some gnarly winds that will and do crack windows and such).

another question. if i run alot of piping underground will it cool the water enough to keep cool water fish like trout and sturgeon?
