Me and my dad build a outdoor pond that we dug out about 2' and then added about 3' of cinder blocks and used pond liner.

I think your after a raised pond we do it here when the soil is to hard to dig down. We dig out say 2 foot then build 3 food up giving a total of 5 but not having the work of the digging and you can sit on the side.
Hi,

Also planning to do a pond, but can't decide whether above ground or one like this? how do you drain water from it?

i redo houses and build alot of stuff with concrete so puring and forming wont be a problem, its the chemicals and coating thats a problem...and also should i have more above ground than below ormore below than above...( 4ft below 3ft above or 3ft below and 4ft above?) or would it jsut be preference?
making it swimmable.... i would like to be able to swimm in it...with the fish:naughty: . besides rinsing off in the shower before swimming, what extra filter/chemicals should be added to prevent oils and such from harming the fish? or would there be enough water it really wouldnt matter?

Most ponds that are like this are built about 2' above ground for two main reasons. 1 Water pressure doubles about every 3' making low above ground walls much easier to build. 2 Having them around 2' is just right for setting on while you enjoy the fish. Swimming in a fish pond is a bad idea. they are full of bacteria that can make you very sick, and your fish won't like you in there either.
