ABS is ok for aquariums, check to see if what your going to use is certified for potable water systems.
And like PVC rinse before using.

much appreciated. I just used this pipe on our own sink water inlets, so it better be for potable water!!

hmmm you have a point there..
. More blind trust of Home Depot I'm afraid!I thought PVC for Potable water and ABS is for Sewer lines. All I know when I went to get pipe for my decorations the ABS pipe had a chemical smell and the PVC didn't. I then purchased PVC even though the black would have looked better for my situation. I was to scared to try it myself.
