Some do it better than others sure, but its all the same. Size/scale/fish is all irrelevant. Enjoy it or get over it ur no better. Be happy u have something to look at in skewl ??.

orrrr... do something about it ??‍... bring them a “real” tank or setup a donation, also schools get money for these kind of things ?... Ive been there ?, 20 yrs ago i took it upon myself to tear down and clean “my class” turtle tank. 2 adult sliders in a 20long. Just got up and went to work. It was delorable, but fixable... i did absolutly no work in class, id clean the tank every day and got an A ???... they even put me in the local newspaper “master of the turtles”. 2 yrs later a brand new 125gal showed up bought with school funds. It quickly went to hell, kids would spear cichlids with scapels tied to string etc....

Moral of the story is, take initiative, do something... maybe just showing interest will get the teacher excited enough to do something with u or make a project out of it ??‍ U never know.

Literally not trying to “cancel” anything. Don’t really care about things. This is something that kinda bugged me but not enough to take actions. I don’t wanna get in trouble or failed and he doesn’t wanna be bugged. It’s a win win. I don’t care. U telling me to “get over it” is hilarious because there’s not something to “get over”

I like showed him some of my stuff. Especially my stuff lately cuz I’m very proud of it. Hoping maybe he learns some stuff of what I can show him or maybe he’ll ask me for advice or something.

Teachers NEVER ask for advice, or at least mine don’t.

When I was a senior, I was a TA for a biology teacher who had 10g or maybe 5g fish tank in the classroom. He use a simple plastic box type corner filter with carbon, bio-media, and filter floss. The tank was moderately stock with like a few guppies or mollies. I guess that's the difference between a biology teacher and a chemistry teacher. I would take a sample of that water and see what the typical readings are and compare it to the faucet water in that class.

I guess if I walk around my house swatting flies...and my neighbour drives around town purposefully running over stray dogs...and another guy is a serial baby killer...those are all the same, since size and scale are irrelevant? That's nonsense.

The common refrain today is that we must accept everything. Some of us old codgers have a hard time with that. Seeing a 10gallon tank full of fish that all have the potential to live years or decades and grow to a foot or more in size...but will absolutely never be able to do so...demands a response other than "oh, sure, that's all good".

If you think something isn't right...and sorry, but this tank fills the bill..then saying so is not a bad thing. This tank, especially since it is maintained by someone who is supposedly training and molding young minds, is not right.

Whining about it on a forum won't change a thing ,there's probably hundreds of thousands of tanks like this you will never see. This isn't a perfect world.
For as long as the hobby will be around tanks like this will exist ,it's inevitable.

I think you missed the part of the OP wanting to know what to do about it. It's bothering him, and the person who owns the tank decides his chemistry grade. So does he gradually find a way to persuade the teacher to do better? Or are you saying to just ignore it? Don't worry about the others in the class who think it's the right way going forward if they ever decide to enter the hobby since the chemistry teacher must be in the right?

Yeah...I guess there's no point in whining about Covid or pollution or climate change or any of that other stuff. It's all out there, it's inevitable...just sit back and relax, it's all good...scale is irrelevant.
