I woke up this morning and found my Flower Horn dead...
I'm really shocked right not. I did a 40% WC on Saturday. Water params are fine, and I haven't seen any spikes to indicate something could be wrong. The tank has been running at full filtration (2 Marineland HOT Mags & 2 Mag 350 cans) for a couple of weeks now. No excessive algae growth or planaria to indicate there was excess food or waste in the water. The Raphael cats and pleco that were also in the tank are fine. I can't believe I just lost my FH.
He was eating fine yesterday with no signs that anything could be wrong.
I've heard about Flower horns dying suddenly and seemingly without cause, but I always thought that was in smaller fish. He was without a doubt the most interactive fish I've ever kept, passing even the oscars that I use to breed. If this is what people talk about with hybrids and the health problems they can have, I think i'll be shying away from them for a while.
I still can't believe it...
