Do you have the black fitting that fits on the u-tube and sits on the motor?

If the water level is high, no cracks or leaks, then wiggling the tube from high intake to the side for lower intake for a few seconds should do it. Try taking off all other tubes other than just the U, keep fish away from the intake while the end/screened tube is off. It should work just fine.
I have two 110s and after a power outage, I have to move the U intake back n forth.
Try filling the tank to the max, IE, all the way up to the inner black frame lip.

"fobrinkle"- yes the black fitting on the u-tube is correctly placed.

"aclockworkorange"-well i bought it ne woff ebay which is the mystery behind this. i suppose it ws just the 7 shaped intake pipe being faulty is the trouble. i guess that is the problem. i will inspect it though and see what is going on here. i may even take some pics!

"secuono"- i tried wiggling the tube around alot and although it would sometimes establsih full flow going through the u-shaped pipe, there would still be air bubbles coming through the filter foam, even after several minutes. if i wiggled it around while i had the siphon going, the suction was lost and th u-tube thing would empty. weird.

i think air is in getting into the tube somehow. strange that if there is a hole in the tube, no water shot out when the water was flowing through fully...strange.
