I use a sponge and 2 bags of biomax in my AC110.

one and half foam block, doubled up on the ceramic. I even added ceramic to the intake side of the filter! but I am crazy like that.

yea i have two sponges and 1 biomax in mine

Me to, I actually have two AC on my 20 gallon tank. One is rated for 20 gallons and the other is rated for 50 gallons.
The 20 gallon one has two sponges and biomax while the other one has one sponge and filter floss. Keeps the water crystal clear.
