AC 110---VS---EMPEROR 400

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just bought my first AC110 and I like it so far, but it's new. I've always had an Emperor 400 and it works well. I do notice that there's more parts to the Emperor. I do like the spray bars on the Emperors, but the simplicity of the AC is probably easier.

though i heard emperor can hold more bacteria, i like Aquaclear cuz u can change/cuztomize the media, see all the stages, and theres more stuff in the filter media it self and and umm adjustable flow control =D ops.. =S dont mind me >.<

The main reason i did this thread was because after searching it looked like the reason most liked the AC was because of the different media's. I do not understand that at all cause you can do even more with a EMP 400. I bought 2 AC110's for a new tank cause of all the threads about how they are great. And I just do not see why so many people think they are great. The best known way to get the most bacteria in a filter system is a wet/dry filter and that is what a EMPeror is. And you can put any filter media in them you want. i have one with scrubbies on one side and ceramic rings on the other as well as 2 homemade mechanical filter sleeves in the outside compartments. Then I have one with a polishing filter material and crushed coral and on top of all that yo have the wet and dry bio wheels. I could not understand why the AC's were better or even a GOOD choice for a main aquarium so I put mine on the feeder tank. The work pretty good on a tank that you don't care about. lol

Never used the Ac110 but I have 2 Emp 400's. I like them a lot. I wouldn't use anything else on smaller tanks they have done so well for me.

i like ac 110's for mechanical i dont care about bio for hob's because thats not what i use them for, leave the bio to my canisters
