A monster tank is every fish tank owned by a passionate fishkeeper. There are lots of 10 gallon tank threads on MFK. I have never liked "passion" as defining the "monster" part of MFK. That's tantamount to stating that MFKers have more passion that ACers. That would somehow make MFKers "superior" fishkeepers. I have a real problem with that. I think ACers are just as passionate about their fish as other fishkeepers.
For me, what makes MFK unique from all other fish forums are the threads and discussions of big tank setups, filtration, builds. I joined MFK because I had questions on filtration for a 300 gallon tank. Yeah, I know that a 300 gallon tank is relatively small, but it's not a size that you can walk in and buy several off the shelf at the LFS. I spend most of my time browsing the setup/filtration and DIY sections. I've been awed and inspired by some of the stuff I've come across. I've learned enough from MFK that I can chart my own way in my big tank journey.
yeah you got me there pacu mom. i just wish we'd recognize the "monster" part of this site more instead of downplaying it and being politically correct every time someone brings it up. there use to be alot more GO MONSTER OR GO HOME pride on here. it's like the sites been neutered so we can be inclusive.

I have both...some areas of interest are more active there than here, so I venture there once in awhile.
The guy above who said AC is a "junk site" and that they come to MFK "to be cool" is exactly there isnt more crossover between sites. -.-
I have an AC account, but I dont use it much anymore. I signed up for MFK/AC when I was 12, and I used to go in AC's chat room a lot and... being a 12 year old left alone on the internet... I pissed some people off
they're a good bunch of people though, very knowledgeable. Just as much as MFK. The only reason I dont go on AC much anymore is that I know a lot of people on MFK and I dont have the patience to learn everyone on AC.

^ now you do the same over here. lol, just kidding. you've grown and matured alot over the years. it's been kinda neat to see. not saying you were a jerk when i first started seeing you around but you were very opinionated. you've learned to tone it down a bit
