try switching the impeller with your other ac110?

im guessing you have 2.. if not... http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18675/si1378671/cl0/impellerassemblyfaquaclear110500 replacement impellers are pretty cheap

keep us posted

Thats a good idea. I'll have to try that a lil later on. I actually have three. After completing all of the suggestions, I've got her down to a sporadic roar. I plugged her up this morning and now she roars every once and a while (every few minutes but not consistent). Thanks again for all your help. I'll pull a switch-a-roo later on tonight probably and see how that works.

Thanks!

good deal.. keep us posted..

Thanks for all your help everyone. Haven't heard her roar in about a day now!

ever figure out what it was?

if you have a fine sand bottom it will make that noise i couldnt get rid of it

Sand is most likely the cause, your fish kick it up and it messes up the filter. Are you running sand?

I had that happen to me. I've never even considered sand again. I know it is popular these day due to how cheap it is but between sucking it up during water changes and all of that mess, i ditched it!
