ac110 problem

right now i have a 72 bowfront with a rena xp3 and an ac110 stocked with
a 6 inch jd and 4 inch convict and 4 silver dollars my qustion is would the xp3
handle the tank by itself the tank is too far from the wall and my wife complains about the water trickling noise from the ac 110 what should i do

xp3 should be fine alone assuming you dont overfeed
you could raise the waterlevel so it doesnt fall so far

or replace wife with one that complains less

Keep the water level up and it should cut down on the noise. Otherwise...not sure what to say...I always thought the sound of running water was soothing.

agreed, water level up, noise goes down.. or keep the tank at the gf's now the wives..

My AC's are quiet when the tank is full.

water level is a quarter inch from lip of filter yet its still noisy i would like to remove it so the tank will be closer to the wall,the xp3 should handle it by itself its rated for a much larger tank

run the canister by itself for a couple weeks and keep an eye on your water params. Remember when you pull that AC your taking away some of your beneficial bacteria. It will take some time to build up in the canister. I would cut back on feedings and double your water changes for the first week.

If you got the extra bucks and you need the wall space.........get another xp3 and use the AC for a spare tank (ie. quarantine or feeder tank)...........that way you wont have to worry if one filter ever goes out on you and you can alternate cleanings....Overfiltration is a hell of a lot better than the opposite!!!

Hell on my 125 gal I have 2 xp3's and an eheim 2028, a seio powerhead and a 18'' bubblewand for aeration...........I'd have more filters but ran out of plugs!!! hahahaha!!! 2 Xp3's and your golden..........and no more loud water nagging!!!!!!

too noisy? maybe there is something wrong with your AC. If you keep the water level up it should not make any noise. try covering up the tank as much as possible to keep evaporation down between water changes to help keep the water level up.

P.S. I love how the wife is taking a beating on this thread.

xp3 should be more than enough.. i had my 110 running on a fluval 404 and it was ok... but the fishes werent so messy.... just take off the HOB and watch your tank.. but you most likley will be ok.
