I have a 55 gallon tank in my classroom. I run a AC110 on it. It has ran great since I bought it in September. Yesterday we cleaned the tank and filter. Now it is shooting out air bubbles into the resevoir constantly. It is filtering water but not at the rate it should be.
I have taken it apart and put it back together twice. Everything is there. Does anybody know what the problem is? I need to get this thing going.

Ok, I'm a jackass.

AC110 is not a canister filter. Are you running any sort of extender pieces on the downpipe? If one of them is right at waterlevel or above, you'll suck air, and any dissolved organics will leave bubbling. If this is the case the filter probably rattles pretty loudly as well. Make sure the pipe is seated firmly on the impeller and I'm guessing you changed the media, did you soak it before reinserting it? If not it may be trapped air.

Try turning it on and seating it perfectly. Now move it to the right (Less flow ) let it sit for a minute this helps get trapped air out. Then move over to the left slowly until it clicks directly above the impellar. This works when I have that problem with my AC50 It has never happened to my 110's however.

try clean it out... take it apart and put it back together.. including the motor inside the magnet part.... if that doesnt work.. try for a LFS with AC110 spare parts.. i see them pop up now and then..

best of luck..

Thanks, I was just able to get on MFK again and this is what I actually did earlier today. I couldn't move it all the way to the left but it is more than half way there.

So, one of my students bumped the filter and it started sucking air again. I took it apart and noticed the u tube seal was broken. If you look at your u-tube there are two parts and the seal broke on mine. I called hagen and they sent me a new u-tube free of charge.
