Thanks Cody...! It's still on this morning so that's a good thing... I suppose some filteration is better than none...

I run sponge pre-filters on all my filter systems. Be it HOB, canister.
The flow does decrease, but for added filtration. Just need to rinse it out every few days.

And are you applying it the same way I did, to the intake?

Fluval makes a sponge filter/cover that would probably work well. The one I got was for the Edge but the make bigger ones. It did not decrease the flow of the filter BTW. Good luck, and I am sure you will find a good solution!!

buy a extra ac100 filter spong cut it in half . Stab a slice in the middle of it and slide it over your instake tube. Will save your filter and add extra filtration for you. Pluss u wont have to clean the whole filter as often . Due to being prefilterd

I think I may be able to rig something up!! I add an extra layer of sponge filter to the AC's that I have, one can do without a little chunk... Awesome, that makes me feel better... the AC's are powerful little machines, I just hate to see all that flow go to waste...

Thanks guys!!

I had the same problem with my AC70. Didn't like the look of a pre filter, so I switched back to gravel. I only use sand on my tanks that have sumps now..
