Here is the problem with the Aquaclear filter. All the one that I bought new have restarted itself fine after a power outage. The few I got as second hand seem to be a hit or miss on restarting after a power outage. I am still trying to figure out what is the cause of some not restarting by itself.

It was just an opinion. I never said Sea Chem Tidal was bad. I heard many positives on this filter. Only negative is the price point. Just a bit pricey if I have to buy 5 for multiple tanks.
No worries i didn't take it as a jab at tidal at all. the two i have are the first i've ever owned and they seem great so far. i ran ac110s for years but the back siphon during power outages was bad enough if power is out for a while. even worse if the impeller gets jammed and doesn't kick back on. they didn't always stick. but i can't imagine it ever happening on these tidals. sicce makes reliable pumps. it doesn't back siphon during power outages. always turns on instantly when power kicks back on since the pumps are submerged. and a great little media basket to fill however you want. both the ac110 and tidal 110 are the same price brand new.

ethnics ethnics i owned a sicce canister before. Flow was terrible bcuz it clogs way too fast. I am wary of sicce products now.

Had 2 eheim classic 2217 canister that ran for 10 years with no problems or noise. Regret selling it now

i still have my Eheim 2028. Both need new gaskets but no issue with the motors.

Problem with Tidal filters is that you have to unplug them while doing water changes. There is a intake grate near the top of the filter. If water level goes below grate filter will be sucking air. Not good. I tried them on my 125 gallon. Exchanged them for AC filters. I can leave the ACs running while doing water changes.

funny, i turn things off when i do water changes and the AC drains itself vs the tidal staying full of water when unplugged. personal preference is a very interesting thing when it comes to hobies
