Still confused how the female sp. 'tap II' won over the female sp. 'tap I'. She just looks more vibratant and red in comparison. Judges each have their own preferences though I suppose.

Congrats on the wins. :) Well deserved, and well represented in the Crenicichla.

Just how many pikes were going against you guys? LoL Next time one is close I'll throw in a little competition for ya. hahaha

The pictures don't do the tapajos II any justice. The colors on it were simply amazing in person. The Atabapo I was nice, but when you walked up to the pike section the atabapo II instantly jumped out at you with it's stunning colors. There was also a nice Johanna but it seemed a little stressed all week. It looked it's best the first day it was there then seemed to fade some as the weekend went by.

The water in Cinci was BRUTAL to soft water fish... or even hard water fish that weren't used to swimming in liquid rock.

Judging fish shows is tough: how much of the scoring should be based on how well/badly the fish reacts to being in a completely un-natural, uncomfortable environment? Opinions vary...

Yeah, the water did not help a lot of the fish. There were some real unhappy fish in the show room. The CA's seemed pretty happy though. It was definately a challenge for the sellers and people showing fish. Everything I bought made it home alive and well though.

Matt:
you are right about that, most of my fish were looking better at home than in the show, the water was brutal for most of my fish, the last two days in the ACA, I just hope they can live than win the price. Will try to contact you this weekend, thank you again for the nice words.

Glad to hear, Dan-Ye!

Mine were instantly happier as well when they were back in their tanks...

Take care,
Matt

You did a great job raising show fish! She certainly got her exercise going back and forth to the front to get all of the trophies! Congrats :D

Even buffered the show tank water was Rough, - - - our rhytisma went belly-up in his showtank, some other showfish died, and a friend's big amarillo died on the way home. We had only 1 causality on the trip home, it's really amazing the fish tolerate the journey, the stress at the show (people + camera flashes), and NO FOOD for over a week. I encourage more people to bring Show Fish, it can be done! More people should join the ACA ~ it's a great club with members passionate about their cichlids.

We brought 6 enties for the Pike class, there were about a dozen pikes overall. Let's see some more entries next year from the Creni Crew...!

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses - going to the lengths that you guys do to display your fish. But it really makes a difference!

I have a secret weapon for the pike class. Hint: it's like a pike but stays really small :) I have one that I've been growing out for almost 2 years and he seems to be maxing out at about 3"!

Take care,
Matt

We really hope they're more entries next year, people are liking the Creni's more every year, they are the ultimate cichlids!

Some bad news - One more showfish died!!- - we're bummed but Life goes on ... the older fish don't recover from shock as well. We picked up some nice fish @ the show, 6 new pikes ~ YES....
