Can anyone ID these? I bought them as port acaras at 3/4" , at that size they were just brown.
There mean little things, there the only fish Ive seen that wont back down from a female con gaurding fry.
They resemble Burjurquina syspilus(the clear professional looking pic) so Im thinking there in thet genus.
Any help would be... well helpful
thanks

Definately an Acara obviously but they kinda look like Metae to me. Metae are pretty rare just like that Diadema you gave me which is doing good. He is very very picky in what he eats!! Hey you might get another rare find from the labels at LFS being wrong!! Just like when they labled the Diadema as a keyhole. I don't really think they are Ports at all. Burjurquina syspilus would be a good guess but not it because of their full lateral black line and Syspilus don't get that as pictured as well as a blue under belly. They even kinda look like Diadema juvies! Good luck SMS!

You guys are probably right, its just that every thing Ive read about metae suggests that they are a very peaceful cichlid, which is not the case with these 2 fish.

Whats up Cross, good to hear about the diadema. He is eating mysis, bloodworms and krill right? I saw you listed him as a peaceful cichlid, did your sal tear him up? Post a pic of him in his new home sometime, I miss him.

Thanks for the response everyone.

That Salvini is scared of him :screwy::WHOA:. First time he ever backed down from a fish. He hasn't mucked with anyone either and the tank is peaceful as can be! I am happy! He isn't eating mysis but Bloodworms and Krill. I am trying to get him to eat Pellets but it's not working out so well. He refuses to even look at them. He is doing well though and his colors are STUNNING. He will be going into a 125 soon with some Patricki, Metae and Blue Acara or I think I will just keep him in the 40 BRD alone for him to be a wet pet.
