o.k i was thinking a blue acara mabye a firemouth possibly a severum with a few other fish in a 55. couple more questions first do you think this would work or is it over stocked also do you think that salvinii cichlids would be to aggresive and do you think a female jack dempsy would be too aggresive also? thanks for all the advice much appreciated
you might be cool(with 1acara, 1FM, and 1sev). add in some target/dither barbs or something as well (tiger, or like types). or what i think sounds cool is: either a group of 4-6 FM with some mid-top water barbs (odessa or rosy), and 1 male acara

. or a group of 4-6 rainbow cichlids with some medium tetra specie group (emperor/pengiun, beuno-aries, blackskirt, silvertips, sisortail, several to choise from), and 1male acara

provide plants and wood/rocks/pots to break line sights through-out the tank. some plants extending to almost the top.
imo salvani's will not work in any of the different combo's (including yours ideas). i also wouldn't go with a JD with given scenarios (including yours). although JD can be purty peaceful. a 55 really isn't a big tank, and with all possible combo's might still cause some aggro.
i currently keep my pair of acaras with tiger barbs, and some growout cichlids. they are a very peacefull pair, and don't attack any of the growouts or barbs. just basicly mingle with themselves.
well hope some of this might help you deceide. if you end up wanting to keep sev's salvani's and JD's, IMO get a bigger tank.
