Since I had the camera out I'd thought I would take some pics of the Nassa. Two weeks of eating like little pigs they are looking good. Can't wate til Tuesday when my other two arrive. These fish are spectacular and would recomend them to anyone. As a side note I was able to speak to Wayne Leibel about them, apperantly other than is one spawn to his knowledge they have never been bread in captivity. This might also be in part due to the fact that no one keeps them. He also told me his were wild cought adults and the female may have already been ripe when she arrived. They also would only eat live goldfish, even though these are also F0 they are eating pellets and anything else that hits the water.

These little guys are awesome. Do you know anything about the differences between this and the other species, vultuosa?

Not much other than what I read here, http://www2.nrm.se/ve/pisces/acara/aa_vultu.shtml

It's a safe bet no body's going to be finding either one at Petsmart any time soon.

Loving them! How big are they?

If i have any room left after the rather huge import from america, i'm definatly getting some nassa!

They're still looking good. I hope that you can get a breeding pair. Having two more coming in should help with the odds. Good luck to you. Get some fry and share the love.

Always, if I get a pair and am lucky enough to get fry I have a feeling some will definatly be heading to Fla.

They are SO cool Tom! I'm glad you picked up a few more. You kind of have to as rare as these guys are. I cannot wait to see them once they put on a little size.

It turns out only one Nassa will be arriving this Tuesday, disapointing but it is what it is. Last night I went and bought two more. That will give me a group of 5 to start my "project" with. Hopefully all will go well. I"ll post some pics of the new ones later. I can see the two I got 3 weeks ago are noticeably larger (about a 1/2") then the new ones, they all came from the same tank. I've been doing twice a day feedings along with 50% WC twice a week and the results are showing. I have no idea at what size they reach sexual maturity, however as Matt pointed out I believe the larger and bolder one is a male and the smaller one is a female. So when I picked the two new ones I did the same thing. Time will tell.

As a side note the Krobia are also thriving from the added attention. For the frist time Thursday I saw side to side flairing and the classic eratic swimming and head shaking from what should be the larger more colorful male but not sure of that either. If these guys spawned I'd be very happy.
