My biology teacher 2 years ago told us he didn't believe in evolution, and he loves science. I found it very interesting and would have liked to get his viewpoint on the reason why but teachers aren't allowed to do that.

I believe in Evolution as it is currently the only reasonable explanation for the diversity and existence of life on the planet. I believe that we descended from monkeys. I , in my opinion have found that people believe in evolution but not neccesarily about humans being descendants of monkeys. I not going farther because a main arguement against it is in a religious belief which we can't get into here.

I can't say I respect someones differing opinion on the subject because I would be lying, but I will respect you.

 The reason that people believe in evolution and do not believe that humans descended from monkeys is that humans have a false superiority complex that tells them that they are superior to every life form on this planet and even those foreign to the 3rd rock from the sun....:screwy:

this is a very good thread and im glad we've been able to keep it civilized :D

any crap, i believe and support evolution. i love the way my evolution professor stated it, "evolution is a fact, the way of explaining it is a theory." it is hard to deny the facts supporting evolution. there is fossil evidence of evolution, genetic evidence, and visual evidence of it. looking at homologous and nonhomologous structures in animals, convergent and divergent evolutionary facts it adds up. the theory part of evolution is piecing together how, why, and when these changes have happened.

They are called vestigial structures:grinno: Sorry, I am a complete science buff:D I do completely agree with all you have said though...

I got another one for you homo sapiens with the huge superiority complex, who believe in evolution but not that humans are in any way involved in it.:grinno: Why do humans actually develope a stubby tail in the first weeks in the womb??? Why do humans have tail bones??? Descendants of chimps perhaps? After all, we do share 99.9% of DNA sequences....:D

correct me if im wrong but vestigial structures are structures that have no function but once served a purpose, ie appendix. nonhomologous structures are similar structures on animals that share no common ancestors :D

also why do humans closely resemble many other animals in early embrotic(sp) stages :D
