Haha, yeah, there's quite a number of fishes in there. Not that obvious in the pictures as I have been taking them late at night when they are sleeping.

The daffodils are quite nice but right now, the pair that had the fry basically own half the tank. Anyone that wanders into the area gets chased away. This could be a bigger issue in smaller tanks. Now if all 8 would form 4 pairs. That would definitely be a problem.

yeah well i just want ONE male for a show tank, alot better than a normal brichardi imo. i know if you have more than one they are super mean. i have a 135 gallon so its worth a try, can always take stuff out

Yeah, one would probably be fine for a show tank. Have you checked out the Gracilis? Those are great too.

I was actually quite surprised to see the fry so soon. I highly suggest getting some Cyps. They're fun to watch specially when the males start flaring. Today, all four of the males were lined up side to side flaring. Was quite a sight!

32 fish now. In 3 months you will be looking at 232 fish. Daffodils are very communal. That first set of babies will get a little bigger and the parents will lay more eggs. They will leave the babies alone. The babies will get a little bigger and actually protect the next set of fry. Then the parents will breed again and the two previous sets will help protect the next set of fry, and so on and so on....

You need to get some synos in there to chow on some of those babies. Oh, and the Juliis will do the exact same thing. You will definitely need something to control the population. That and you need some stuff the reaches to the top of the tank that blocks the line of sight of the breeders. Once you get some Jullii's breeding on the side opposite the Daffodils you are going to have the rest of your fish crammed in the middle...Maybe get some clown loaches. They will clean up too...



On a brighter note, that is one incredible tank. Wood and all.....

Very nice set-up. My Julies have taken to the wood in my tank as well. Looking real good, and beware of the Dafs. The may soon dominate the tank. Worst case senario, you throw them in a 75 and have a huge colony that pumps out fry. Use them for store credit or something.

Thanks for the compliment and information. I didn't know that the Daffodils would spawn so easily. Right now, the Cyps are keeping them busy. For some reason the Cyps insist on sleeping in the area where the Daffodil pair has claimed with their fry. The Cyps have managed to move further and further into the area. I guess that's the advantage of schooling. When they see food fall in the area, they all go at once and the Daffodils can't chase them all away. I guess that will change when the fry grow up.

I was actually thinking of getting a pair of Calvus or Comps. Would they be able to help maintain the population? I really would like to get a pair of White Calvus.

Thanks, I'm not sure if the wife will let me have another tank. Within 2 months of getting into Aquariums, I now have the 29g and the 120g. The only place left with space will be the basement but that needs to be finished. It's just a junkyard right now. If the Julies and Daffodils do start having decent fry, I will most likely try and sell them off.

They Cyps are really colouring up nicely. One male was flaring yesterday as I was watching and it looked really good. The change from drab brown to bright yellow/blue is quite astonishing to see.

One male Brevis has also been doing some digging and has created quite a mountain beside his and his mate's shell.
