I started the brackish water cichlids thread. I guess I abandoned the thread. I will update it as I feel like I should not leave it open ended.
But for now..... I currently have a Mayan cichlid and a black belt cichlid living with toadfish at SG1.012. Only a few cichlids will survive high salinities. University studies show that Mayans grow best at SG1.007 to 1.012. I don't remember the source, but I googled it. The biggest thing is that while they do tolerate marine waters and at times some populaces may thrive in these conditions, the Mayans and black belts tend to enjoy freshwater and low to mid range brackish. BTW, I wasn't going to push them into marine conditions, just let them stay at denser water than fresh. which mine are going great and are colored up nicely.
