acclimating a Snow Flake Eel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i havn't raised the salinaty yet. the puffer hasn't eaten in a few days all there shrimp are still there. i tried plankton and brime shrimp. worms and snails. he shows no interest in any i am getting worried.

Well, the fact that the puffer is still pretty much in FW, can be part of your problem. Please post water parameters: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH & SG.
Here are other feeding ideas: FEEDING YOUR PUFFER & Problems feeding your puffer?

sad to say the puffer didn't make it i bought him some planton and that didn't work at all. after he died i raised the salt level to 1.12 i figure i will go up a little higher this weekend. i guess i am not meant to house puffers.

Once acclimated, puffers can be quite hardy. That was way too high of a salinity jump for your tank. You just killed off all the biological bacteria in there. Never raise the SG more than .002/week. You still never posted your parameters.

lol wow that was a sky rocket jump with your SG....your whole biological bacteria is all gone....now ya got to start out from scratch....you should have done whatPufferpunk said...only raising it .002/week

i have been slowly raising it up per water change every two weeks when its done. i was upset i lost the puffer i gues i am not good with puffers at all. sorry didn't reply back wife had a baby. will check the water peramiters very soon. i need to change the gravel soon its almost half way to salt water conditions.

ok the tank is finally up to par For Salt Water. has been running for a while now changed all the gravel to live sand and everything going good. Eel is eating very well looking in to seeing what i can put with a Snowflake Eel now.
