the bad color maybe down to the bare bottom tank

i have seen NTT go mad trying to swim downwards in a bare bottom tank

was it in bare bottom in the shop

could be the bare bottom. All my growouts are bare bottom for ease of cleaning, but maybe I will put some sand in its new tank. I am down to 1.002, so I will be down to 1 tonight and Friday it will be in a fresh tank. It's just in that one so I can get it acclimated to fresh as its the only fish that's not freshwater. I'm pretty sure there was substrate in the tank at the LFS.

well, had to move the guy to my 40 breeder w/ black background and t-grade and it colored up nicely overnight. i'll try to get some pix. my NTT I haven't seen eat since I got it and it's looking unsettled but it looked great when it was in my tank for a week.

I took a few pix today, but only one turned out clear, only problem is you can't see it's tail end. The water has a lot of tannins in it right now.

He looks really nice!!!!

I buy SW fish that I have t0 add to my reef tank (1.006), where they came from a SG of 1.016. You can drip-acclimate that fish within a few hours (.002/hr).

cool, thanks. that's good to know for future reference.

Sorry, I see typos in that response I gave you. The SW fish come from my LFS at 1.016 & I take a couple of hours to get them to what my reef tank is, 1.026.
