how would go go about acclimating nerite snaild to brackish water so they dont die as soon as i put them in there for my gsp and my figure8 puffer and what else can be used to help with their teeth is anything??? and what kind of live plants are good for brackish tanks???:nilly:

You could use a variety of foods, Ramshorn Snails provide a crunchy shell, de-frosted frozen: mussels on shell / clams with shell / Crays / crab legs etc...

Also, foods don't have live in a tank, as long as your puffs know its food and you don't leave un-eaten food to rot, there shouldn't be a problem...

Hope that helps...

yes it does thank u, i read somewhere something about fiddler crabs but that would take them forever to eat wouldnt it

nerite snail supposedly came from brackish water and spawn in it, did yours died after introducing to it

no i have yet to find a nerite snail...lol...ive only used ramhorns, i know u can use the malasian trumpets and i have some of those too...

^ You should really stay away from MTS, since MTS have been known to have exceptionally hard shells that can crack a puffers teeth...

^ Some do come from S.E Asia, but a lot don't... also its been documented online quite a few times where people have fed it to their puffers and ended up cracking their puffers teeth...

So if you want to feed it to them, then its your call, but personally i stay the hell away from MTS when feeding snails to my puffers...
