While I dislike the article writer's use of purposefully inflammatory rhetoric, he makes some good points. Given the "leaked" emails it "looks" like JoePa tried to keep things on the quiet side. I still don't see any actual proof that he attempted to interfere though.

Its still my personal opinion that JoePa was trying to do what he thought was best based on hearsay. Its all well and good for the writer to infer that JoePa knew more about Sandusky's past accusations, and that he did more to obstruct it being reported to the authorities, but the real evidence just isn't there.

Personally I wish he was still alive to answer these questions himself, unfortunately he's not and these bits of circumstantial evidence just throw fuel on the fire...

i agree jopa did what he thought was "best " wich was from the evidence I'VE seen was1. talk curly out of reporting incedinces of rape to child services 2.allow sandusky to keep giving" football camps" to underprivilaged kids for several more years and3. to allow sandusky to keep an office on campus(football building wich jopa contolled ,with an iron hand) and gave him accessto all football facilities ,remember this is after curly was talked out of reporting it by jopa.this leads me to believe jopa was more concerned with his (and pennst.)reputation than the kids that were raped. remember heresay is only sketchy in court ,not in reporting crime,if you see suspicious activity in your neiborhood and someone tells you ,its a crackhouse, thats hersay but if you are a good citizen you might want to tell the proper authorities .nobody doubts jopa did the bare minimum LEGALLY to cover his rear .but thats setting the bar awfully low for a LEGEND and shaper of future leaders

Joe died of shame and guilt because he knew he could of done more. He never reported this to police like a lot on here insisted months ago. Lung cancer my eye! His name and Penn State will forever be tarnished from these dispicable crimes and attempted cover ups and rightfully so. Too bad he croaked so he couldn't see some deserved jail time! Rah rah rah coach!

First of all yahoo writers in general are terrible. Joe should not have been fired according to the board because he did what was the school employee policy be alerting the athletic director. Now in hindsight he could have done more seeing that the athletic director did nothing, and that is where it get ls gray. If a coach alerted other ppl besides the athletic director every time a player does some out of line stuff there would be 1/2 of teams suspended by the NCAA right now. Towards the end of his career I do not think he ran stuff as much as people say. He didn't even stay on the field for the full duration of games. No matter what it's a sad story for everyone involved.

good lord even when youshow them the light ...they still got excuses...HE talked the a.d .out of reporting a rape and then let the guy hang out at the football facility for a decade more ,raping kids in showers ,all he had to do was report it to child services .on a brighter note for jopa nobody else dared cross him and report it either and they are all gonna pay the price...SOON

i hope some of the rape victims make it as well........ ps thanks for the link maddmaxx ,I really dont hold ill will towards any jopa fans I know its hard to see a great life end so poorly

I still don't see any evidence on Paternos direct involvement...unfortunately we will never know what was discussed with Paterno in the middle of the emails.

I will admit that this does looks damning

Curley indicates he no longer wants to contact child welfare authorities just yet. He refers to a conversation the day before with Paterno. It's not known what Paterno may have said to Curley. Curley allegedly writes: "After giving it more thought and talking it over with Joe yesterday, I am uncomfortable with what we agreed were the next steps."

Believe it or not, I'm not a fan his...my dad is who thinks he is guilty.

The Who's Rodger Daltry had a solo hit in the 80's. "Say it ain't so Joe". The song kinda sums up Joe's fall from grace. Some of the later lines in the song---"Clinging to a job and determined to smile but the good ole days are gone. Say it ain't so Joe please say it ain't so.
