Accurate info needed on Jaguar catfish

max size mine grew to is about 7" but i know of 9" they grow quite slow for a catfish, they like soft water like discus and other amazons and temp i kept mine at 25c for 7 years.

hmmm, I was told they would adapt to any water conditions. Basically the tank had to be cycled and thats it. I know they come from soft and acidic waters, but is it true they will adapt, kinda like other catfish? And what do you think is max temp they can tolerate? I keep my temp at 79 degrees for my GT.

they will acclimatise to harder conditions, most of the fish are wild, if you can i would suggest trying to find a fish that has been at the wholesalers or a LFS for a while and asking them what the shops water parameters are there, try and avoid a newly shipped fish, or if you can ge the fish imported to your LFS and pay for it and get them to hold it in their tanks for you for a couple of weeks to acclimatise it for you, just in case it goes belly up on you if you are worried but i have never had any trouble with them just give them a hiding place and they will be ok. that water temp sounds fine to me.

I have kept them before, they have the nicest spots on the body and are quite shy as mentioned above. The "honk" when they are scared I think, so hiding places can make them get settled in faster. Most fishes, when under stress will develop illness so try to keep compatible fishes that will not attack or harm your Jaguar Cat.

I lost two big ones (about 5 inches or so) because I didn't take precaution to keep them with compatible tankmates. Now I have a small one which is prettier than the previous two, it's only about 3 inches or so and I keep it with non aggressive fishes and juvenile cichlids.
