Hi all
I was just after some feedback on what is the most accurate thermometer on the market,I have a digital one that tells me my water is at 28 Degrees C and a glass one that tells me that it's at 29 degrees C. Any suggestions.

If you put them both themometers in a tank and bump up the temperature with a single heater and they both record the same amount of heat increase then both are perfectly accurate. Doesnt really matter what the themometer reading says since its all relative. Even if you get all the same type and same brand themometer, they will show different readings.

I prefer floating glass ones myself unless the fish bite/smash them.

i don't bother with digitals anymore,i find that over time they get less accurate....i have gone back to old school technology...a nice glass thermometer :)

I accidentally broke 5 floating glass thermo's over time so I went with a Digi which seems to be very accurate....

that is a draw back,i have gone through 3 digital thermometers :(,but i'm lucky enough to have a sump to store all the bits and bobs so nothing gets damaged :)

buy a high grade liquid in glass lab thermometer

check your digital with it

note the correction factor

store the lab thermometer carefully until the next check

use the digital with the correction factor

Glass & digital thermometers are both accurate, but I would use a digital thermometer with monster fishes since they can't break them.

Digital thermometers need to be calibrated every few months, or else the probe might need to be changed. It's different for all different kinds so check the instructions that came with it.
