I am thinking about changing the pH on my community tank in preparation for a bgk. I had previously been using a neutral buffer, but I learned that seachem's neutral regulator is not for plants. So I am going to switch off that. My glass catfish would also prefer a slightly acidic environment.

I know the debate about playing with your pH from my pond experience, but my fish are not as hardy as koi. I want to make them as happy as possible. My local water runs at 8 without any alkalinity I was wondering what products you guys use, if any. I don't particularly want to use something that will leach tannins. I was thinking more along the lines of a powder.

use a peat softening pillow, drift wood will do it too. the tannin will fade in no time.
