there was just a trio of achies for sale on kingsnake like not even 3 days ago. 1.2 ratio.

Red and yellow ackies are color morphs. Just like they have different colors that are selectively breed in bearded dragons. Plus hes taking pics of his computer screen.

Actually they're two different subspecies of Varanus acanthurus.

Red Ackie: Varanus acanthurus acanthurs
Yellow Ackie: Varanus acanthurus brachyurus

Unfortunately there are very few pure reds in the US. Most "reds" for sale are a mix of the two subspecies.
 
I am familiar with both of those subspecies as well as the third, Varanus acanthurus insulanicus. But most people and breeders want the make the difference in the color rather than the subspecies. There is "reds" and "yellows" in both of the more common subspecies.

Its very different in the monitor world compared to that of snakes and geckos. Most true breeders (not dealers) breed there animals for the experience and love of the animals plus there are very few morphs out there in monitors. Most monitor people look down on crossing different sub species let alone different species.
