When I had acrylic tanks it was recommend to get the Ammonia free version of the Windex. Have personally been using Windex on all my tanks without any cloudiness or crazing on glass and acrylic for over 10 years. Just my two cent

I spent $$$$$$ for my custom built acrylic tank and don't want to risk the crazing and cloudiness that some people have experienced. Water and/or Novus for me. Call me "chicken" if you want....

Would never call you that I don’t disagree with what you said one bit just speaking from my personal experience

I can't find the same one at WalMart. Probably any of them would work (they have soft bristles and rubber guards). This is the closest one I could find like mine:

I just bought a brush and handle on Amazon.

I love these erasers from Home Depot. Great for getting the crud out from upper seam corners where the bristles can't get in and cleaning tank lids.

pacu mom pacu mom do you know if I can use soap on acrylic, like basic dawn or any other fish soap (tend to use Meyers which is a gently soap). I’m asking because I want to put a window tint on the outside of the tank for one side temporarily. I have to mix water with a few drops of soap so the tint product sticks to the surface.

Well have gotten the remainder of pvc, valves, poret foam and everything else. Tank arrives tomorrow and I hope to have it running in 2-3 weeks. Going to be a ton of work. Need to paint the room, and move my 180g before I can bring the new tank in and begin working on it.

I haven't read about Dawn degrading acrylic, but I honestly don't know. JK47 JK47

Anything in excess is dangerous, that’s how I ruined a 600. Dawn is what I use in water when I wet sand. Never had an issue but always have it removed shortly after application. The issue may be with soaking.

You’ll be fine. I’ve done this exact thing numerous times for backgrounds.

Dayum! You pulled the trigger on a lot of PVC. I used x2 1.5” and x2 1”. You have some practice lengths, that’s really good. I would suggest a donor pipe and start cutting and making corners or angles so you get a feel for how the measurements correlate, the fittings bottom out as well as how tight that may or may not fit.

I bought a lot of excess. I knew I’d probably ruin a couple pieces and that I probably won’t be able to optimize each length of pvc. I’m also using the pvc to run a drain line to the other room and back flush which is where a lot will go. That’s the great thing about BRS, you can return anything unused and get a refund.
