Every 6 months or so I pull the glass lids off my two acrylic tanks and clean the algae and dust off them. This is a huge pain but it needs to be done. I can’t believe how much light the algae and dirt blocks.
The hardest part of this for me is cleaning the acrylic top of the tank.
I figured out a good solution for this today. I use these large drywall tools to pull the algae towards me. This keeps the algae on the tool and I scrape it off onto a paper towel or something.
I was using a Brillo pad and rubbing back and fourth making a huge mess lol
