Anyone know if I can simply silicone acrylic on abs plastic and if it'll hold with water in it?
I heard rumours that silicone doesn't hold acrylic so well. Is this true?

If so, any ideas on what to use instead? I need a strong water-proof, aquarium-safe seal.

abs flexes. and your right silicone will NOT stick to plastic. acrylic etc.

Just get all acrylic and bond them together.

Will 1/2" thick ABS still flex in small applications? Like less than 8"?
I'm trying to bond acrylic with ABS as the bottom, because the acrylic is only 1/4" thick and tends to flex more then the ABS.
Plus an opaque bottom would be practical for what I'm doing.

If I end up going all acrylic though, what bond do I use?

1/2" for a bottom is fine, how big of a tank are you making?

Iv never done abs to acrylic, I tried googling it and came up with nothing.

I would just do all acrylic, not sure about what glue to use, but if you search the site on diy you can find what people use.

Or go to this guys site and see what they list. Heres a DIY for glueing acrylic tanks to

I'm trying to build a water bridge.
It would be around 4.5" wide by 14" long by 4" hight, though the bottom would only be about 8" long.

Sorry, I just measured again to make sure (and I'm glad I did) but it turns out I have closer to 1/8" acrylic. Will it be fine for this application? Or should I buy a thicker sheet?

I may just go with all acrylic unless someone has an idea on how to bond it with ABS.

Use GOOP it will stick to both acrylic and ABS sheet. GOOP will be runny though so you will have to tilt your tank so that all the goop will sit on the corner/joins of the 2 sheet. You can get them from wallmart.
